K. William McKenzie Law
For 40 years, Canadian Bill McKenzie has been a global lawyer and adventurer, skier, sailor, movie producer, philanthropist, and world traveler.
“While I savor my successes in the Supreme Court of Canada, appeal courts and in international business tribunals - not to forget negotiating large and complex business deals for my corporate clients - one of my best memories is helping a young lady to recover money from Canadian Tire after they botched her car repair. She received a settlement of around $300 but it was one of the most rewarding cases of all. I refused to accept payment for doing that trial.“
Civil litigation, insolvencies, restructurings, joint ventures, construction and utility projects.
Decades of Experience in many international jurisidictions.
Joint ventures in many countries acting for businesses and individuals. Human rights matters.
Every year William McKenzie takes on cases and clients who deserve justice but do not have the resources to hire a lawyer. This is one of the ways he has chosen to give back to the community.
Energy & Environmental Law
Cutting Edge Law - Real Solutions
Energy and environmental issues can overwhelm businesses and communities as interests and perspectives clash. William McKenzie has a proven record of finding acceptable middle ground - and when that is not possible, of aggressively asserting cutting edge environmental law to uphold his clients' interests.
Decades of Experience - Supreme Court Victory
William McKenzie has been at the forefront of the movie and broadcasting industry’s ongoing fight with pirates who steal programming and sell it to a susceptible public. His efforts resulted in a complete victory over satellite TV pirates when he won the Supreme Court of Canada case of Bell v Rex.
Now that the pirates are using the internet and streaming services to continue their larceny, Mr. McKenzie is engaged in many projects focused on eliminating piracy and protecting content creators and legitimate distributors.
“I was a welcome participant when I acted for Aeroplan points holders in the Air Canada CCAA proceedings; it seemed that everyone there, including the judge, was a frequent flyer!”
“..or the time I was involved in a hearing in Beijing, China - related to a joint venture. While I was instructed to sit in the outside waiting room, the clerk reported the hearing was underway but I did not need to be in court because the other side was presenting my arguments to the tribunal!”
